Oregon State's New Revolution
Peter Mazzocco | 8/6/2025
For too long, Oregon State has operated with one foot in the stone age while our alumni have revolutionized the world around us. We've watched as programs with far-inferior innovative DNA build modern, compelling brands that capture national attention, while we rely on outdated playbooks to represent a university that quite literally helped build the backbone of the modern world. The fans have spoken: they're tired of the conservative gatekeeping, frustrated with brand messaging that doesn't resonate, and hungry for the kind of forward-thinking approach that actually reflects Oregon State's true innovative spirit. Beaver Street Co (BVR ST CO) exists to change this – to finally align Oregon State's culture and brand with the disruptive, innovative mindset that our greatest alumni embody.
Let's face it, in order to compete in the new college athletics landscape, it requires money; and lots of it. The top programs and collectives are spending around $30+ million annually just to maintain some level of success. It’s no secret that this is where Oregon State has fallen short. Right now, for most fans, contributing and supporting financially has felt like an obligation – not something that people genuinely want to do. To us, this shows that the old model is dead. Sending contribution emails that don't inspire action, creating campaigns that fans can't identify with, gatekeeping events to a few elite, and so on. It has proven to be stale time and time again. So, you might be asking, “well, how do you plan on fixing this”? It’s simple really.
Just as our neighbors to the south transformed their athletic program by partnering with a global brand and fully embracing that industry's culture, Oregon State has the unique opportunity to do the same within a much larger industry: technology. With pioneering alumni from the world's most valuable tech companies in our network and a vast legacy of producing engineering innovators, we have the historical foundation to create something unprecedented: a program that doesn't just use technology to better the world and student-athletes, but thinks, operates like, and embodies the disruptive and innovative culture of those major tech companies.
Here’s what that looks like: We're developing financial innovations that don't exist in collegiate athletics, creating products and experiences that fans genuinely want to engage with, cultivating unique, yet impactful partnerships, and building the kind of tech-forward brand ecosystem that makes supporting Oregon State feel like a desire rather than an obligation. When other programs and collectives scramble to understand what we're building, when recruits choose Oregon State because we represent the future of college athletics, and when our approach becomes the blueprint that transforms the industry – that's when we'll know Oregon State has finally stepped into its rightful place as a leader, not a follower.
This isn't about incremental improvement or hoping things get better with time. This is about fundamentally re-imagining what Oregon State can become when we stop waiting and start leveraging our greatest asset: our historical ability to innovate and disrupt the norm. The recent conference realignment gave us a reset button. The new NIL landscape gave us the pathway to support. Our alumni network gave us the blueprint to follow. Now, it’s our time to execute on Oregon State's future – a future where we're not explaining why we deserve respect, but demonstrating why and making others wonder how they can compete.
